Kickball Society’s motto "Fighting the Demons of Adulthood One Game At A Time" hints to why their spring leagues drew 615 players and 31 teams. Escaping daily responsibilities for a few hours to play a classic playground sport provides a welcome pressure release for adults.
Meeting new people in a casual, recreational setting is a draw to singles, newly-singles, newcomers to the area and people wanting to expand their circle of friends. It's also a sport that couples can play together and a venue for parents to have fun, get exercise and have an evening to themselves. "The best thing about Kickball Society is meeting lots of different people of all ages. It’s a lot of fun! You definitely don't have to be an athlete" said Nancy Feldhaus of Lutz, who played in Kickball Society's inaugural season last summer and three more seasons since then.
Registration fee is $60 and includes eight regular-season games, league championship tournament game(s) and an official league t-shirt. League provides paid referees and all equipment and supplies. Plastic cleats are allowed. To view a video or register online, go to http://www.kickballsociety.com/
Building on successful 2009 league launches in Northdale and Temple Terrace, Kickball Society's expanded to Lutz to better serve residents of northern Hillsborough and southern Pasco County.
