You may have seen versions of these signs in seaside shanty towns or maybe the TV show M.A.S.H. Journey markers are the roadside direction signs that show how far away you are from distant locations.
JourneyMarkers' Artisan and Founder Jay Keeler said recently, "What makes JourneyMarkers so unique is that we personalize these mile markers for our customers with the actual mileage to their favorite places. For example, your first house, that Mexican town where you had your best vacation, your sister’s farm in Arkansas, and your Aunt’s station in Iraq. Sure it’s funky art, but the personal stories attached are real!"
JourneyMarkers started on a whim in November, 2006. Jay had seen them every time he and his family went diving in Key West and they wanted one for themselves that would point our memories to places they loved and missed. "I figured out how far we were from Greece, Miami and Sweden and then took some old wood, a few buoys and rope out to to my workshop. Since that first marker we have sold over 1,000 JourneyMarkers to people we meet at art shows and markets," he said.
This summer, JourneyMarkers launched a new product line; Laser Engraved Desktop JourneyMarkers. "We are very excited about these. They are the perfect compliment for your home or office," said Keeler. You can see them by going here: http://journeymarkers.com/desktop.html
